Looks like my prediction of the future of retailing has already started, earlier than expected.

mediacart.jpg

This is the Mediacart. According to Wired, the cart sports “a live, voice controlled guide to help you find what you are looking for (the cart uses WiFi triangulation to locate itself), a barcode scanner to both check prices and allow you to skip the checkout, and a slot for your loyalty card, effectively a log-in which will store your purchase history and preferences.

What’s interesting (or scary) is that the software for this brainiac comes from Microsoft. That means that there’s a chance that you could be led to an aisle that sells pork when you’re looking for a fork and or the flowers when you’re looking for cake-making materials.

I hope it comes with a ctrl+alt+del.
