Wii kills PS3, eats Xbox for breakfast

Apparently in Europe the PS3 will take over the XBox 360 this summer and in France and Spain, it already has. But nothing compares when we’re told that Wii whoops both their bums, by outselling
the PS3 4 to 1! This ration was 3 to 1 in January and Xbox only managed to sell less than 15,000 whilst Japanese sales of Wii surpassed the 350k mark. The question that I’m asking here is that whether or not the Wii should be thought of as a competitor for the PS3 and the XB360?

images.jpgWhilst they all have one thing in common, games, it doesn’t seem as though the Wii – in fact, all of Nintendo – are targeting the same people as the other two are. The PS3 and the XB360 are clearly made for hardcore gamers and those who like their gadgets, with the large console bodies, the many various add-ons, online MMORPGGRASD (sorry – couldn’t resist), processing speeds and extreme graphics. On the other hand the Wii sells itself on the fact that games are to be enjoyed with friends and family and rather than getting uptight and beating the shit out of each other in real life for beating the shit out of each other on-screen, games should give you the chance to have as much innocent fun as as two or more people are allowed to have. To Nintendo, games are not only a form of entertainment but that it can also be enriching and healthy! That’s why you can play sports and test your IQ. Fine, it still doesn’t beat real sports and real Mensa, but it sure surpasses the PS3 and XB360 on those grounds.

We also see a lot more women and elder people – not typical of gamers – playingon the Wii with their grandkids! The Wii allows them to do such things. Heck if Joe had an XB360, grandma sure ain’t going to annihilate his ass in Halo, is she now?

wii.jpgSo after all that, do we think that the Wii should but put head to head with the PS3 and XB360?

Mind you, having said that, I have seen people go to the ER with injuries resulting from ultra competitiveness. And broken bones from the Wii controller.

By the way, in the image right at the top, the console that looks like a cat really is a cat.

  1. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult
to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appeal.

I must say that you’ve done a very good job with this. In addition, the blog loads super fast for
    me on Safari. Exceptional Blog!
